The Department of Blood Group Serology and Transfusion Medicine produces state-of-the-art blood components, stem cell transplants, tissue preparations and new cell therapeutics. Furthermore, we are responsible for round the clock diagnostics in immunohematology and immunogenetics to ensure safe hematological therapy and immunological care for all patients and in particular for children and adults subject to solid organ or stem cell transplantation.
The uniqueness and the added value of our department are the result of the symbiosis between patient care, research and education. The department is jointly operated by the Medical University of Graz and the Styrian Hospital Association (KAGes).
